About Signapse

Signapse is a fast paced startup with the goal of making the world a more inclusive place for the deaf community. As a tech for good we’re using AI to create Sign Language translations in the video, transportation and website spaces.

Signapse is expanding at pace within these spaces providing a perfect opportunity to grow its technical team. By joining as a DevOps engineer you will be at the forefront of our expansion into new markets, able to make decisions and work independently to drive the infrastructure strategy forwards and ensure that Signapse is always scalable, secure and at the cutting edge of technology. 

Essential Requirements

  • At least 3 years experience working in a DevOps or related role. 

  • A good understanding of Terraform 

  • A strong understanding of AWS 

  • A working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies

  • A willingness to learn on the job

  • Strong communication skills either written, verbal or signed

  • Strong Linux skills

  • Experience with monitoring production services and acting on alerts.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with Terragrunt

  • Experience with container orchestration in a cloud environment Kubernetes, Fargate etc.

  • Experience with serverless technologies AWS Lambda, Azure Functions etc

  • Experience with more than one cloud provider

  • A good understanding of security best practices

  • An understanding of operating at scale and scaling infrastructures

  • An understanding of cost management within the cloud

  • Experience writing automated tests for infrastructure as code

  • Understand the benefits and pitfalls of AWS architecture strategies

  • Understanding of networking both on premise or in the cloud

  • Be comfortable with supporting production systems

Example Responsibilities

Design, implement and build infrastructure for a Signapse product. You will do this by:  

  • Identifying the best solution for the application be it containers, serverless, VM’s etc.

  • Design an infrastructure diagram detailing what is intended to be built for documentation purposes

  • Contributing to discussions on usability, brainstorm solutions and advice on technical roadblocks to determine feasibility

  • Build Terraform modules that can be re-used across the whole estate

  • Setup Terragrunt to deploy the new application

  • Setup CI/CD pipelines for the application

  • Ensure that all monitoring and alerts have been correctly setup and documented

  • Ensure that all public documentation is up to date and deployed

  • Manage the service deployment all the way to production.

This is a full-time position, with normal virtual office hours of 9am to 6pm, although flexibility is offered to suit reasonable personal circumstances. What matters most to us is strong collaboration, meeting agreed milestones and the delivery of high quality work.
